Design of Conformal Array of Rectangular Waveguide-Fed Metasurfaces

We present a systematic design method for cylindrical conformal array of rectangular waveguide-fed metasurfaces. The metasurface consists multiple curved waveguides loaded with metamaterial elements—electrically small apertures—inserted into the upper conducting walls waveguides. Each element radiates energy free space to contribute an overall radiation pattern. Thus, geometry or electrical configuration each elements needs be tailored generate desired Generally, due difficulties in modeling effect curvature, arrays has relied on full-wave simulations experiments. In this study, we propose utilizing semianalytical model planar accounting elements’ locations and orientations over surface. Although approximate, demonstrate that alteration along framework dipolar can used analysis curvature. then using combined covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) optimizer. Through numerical simulations, confirm validity proposed method. Applications include metasurfaces radar, communications, imaging systems mobile platforms.
